當年Fisher-Price Toys的微電腦電子產品都是經由 Pi-Tech 向台灣廠商採購, 老貓 (Mr. Catlin)是位高權重的採購, 而我是初出茅廬的小品管, 我們倆是如何有密切的關係?

原因是台灣廠商出貨前必須經過Pi-Tech的驗貨, Fisher-Price的採購信用狀有特別條件註明, 凡是經過我驗貨並簽字的驗貨證明(Certificate of Inspection)在Fisher-Price公司內部是被評價為A+級的, 老貓非常喜歡並引以為傲的, 所以老貓和品管小子的友誼是這麼建立的.

老貓在一次和台灣廠商晚餐喝完威士忌之後, 我送他回飯店, 我們在他房間喝冰啤酒醒酒,...老貓告訴我, 他做人做事一生奉行的準則: UNDERSTAND, RELAX & ENJOY

這3個字對我日後在做人處事方面有極大的影響.

Lloyd "Bud" William Catlin, a longtime Elma resident, died Mon., April 12, 2010 in Mercy Hospital of Buffalo after a short illness. He was 82.
 
Born in Warsaw, N.Y., on Feb. 18, 1928 to the late Lena (Westlake) and Lloyd W. Catlin, Sr., he was a 1948 graduate of Warsaw High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 18, near the end of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater after the war. He attended Syracuse University and graduated from Bryant and Stratton.

Mr. Catlin was employed by Moog Inc. as an administrative research and development manager in Monterey Park, Calif., and in sales with Moog's Hydra Point Division. Later, he was an international purchasing manager for Fisher-Price, traveling extensively throughout Asia and Europe. He retired from Fisher-Price in 1991.

Mr. Catlin and his family lived in Elma since 1979, previously residing in California, West Seneca, Pennsylvania, and for six years in Colden.

He was a member of the American Legion and VFW, serving as Wyoming County commander of the Legion in 1964 and 1965. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a past member of Blazing Star Lodge Free & Accepted Masons, the Buffalo Consistory and Ismailia Shrine Temple.

After becoming involved in the school district as a parent during a capital project campaign, at the urging of other parents Mr. Catlin ran for the Iroquois Central School Board of Education. He served on the board for five years in the early 1990s, including two years as board president.

In 2007 he was inducted into the Warsaw High School Athletic Wall of Fame in honor of his outstanding achievements in sports during his high school career, including lettering in basketball, baseball, track and tennis.

Mr. Catlin is survived by his wife, Connie Catlin of Elma; six children, Jeffrey (Stella) Catlin of Mount Morris, Gregory Catlin of Binghamton, Timothy Catlin of West Seneca, Scott Catlin and Benjamin Catlin, both of Elma, and Melissa (Lt. Robinson) Kiser of Okinawa, Japan; one sister, Betty (Ronald) Chappel of Indio, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Alicia Catlin, and Noah, Benjamin, Isabella and Kate Kiser.

A memorial visitation will be held Sat., May 1 from 2:30 to 3 p.m., followed by a memorial service, at the Kenneth Howe Funeral Home, 64 Maple St., East Aurora. Private burial will take place at Union Free Cemetery in Wethersfield.
